China's International Role in the Framework of American Image

美国对中国的国际角色长期以来一直存在着错误的认知,这些错误的认知与“美国意象”直接相关,而“美国意象”则来自于以“美国例外论”为基本传统的意识形态。美国对中国的认知偏见,既有有意偏见,也有无意偏见,但都同样直接受美国意识形态的影响。今天,由于中国实力的快速上升和美国自身利益的新变化,“美国意象”对中国国际角色产生了难得的认知“和谐”。不过,这种认知和谐仍然是为美国的战略利益服务的,它不仅带有相当大的偶然性,而且在这种认知和谐背后有着严重的不和谐的政治意图。

There exists a wrong cognition for the US on China's international role, which is linked with “American image”. the “American image” arises from the traditional core ideology of “American Exceptionalism”. Whether conscious prejudice or unconscious prejudice, it is directly influenced by its ideology. Today, with China's rising and the changing of American interest, “American image” engenders a harmonious cognition of China's international role. However, such harmoious cognition still serves its strategic interest and there is not only great contingency but also unharmonious political intention behind it.
