论清代皖中绅士在保障城乡社会互动中的作用

On The Role Played by the Local Gentlemen in Promoting Rural and Urban Communication in Mid-Anhui during Qing Dynasty

绅士在清代是一个特殊的社会群体,他们在社会基层发挥了十分重要的作用,本文以皖中绅士为例,从建设交通、捐办教育、制衡地方三个方面来论证他们在沟通城市与乡村的物资交流与人才流动以及社会稳定上所作出的贡献,他们的所作所为,今天看来还具有一定的启发意义。

As a special social group in the Qing Dynasty, the local gentlemen played a very important role in the grass-root work at the time. In light of the efforts they made to promote transportation construction, promote education by way of donation, and maintain local social stability,the present study explores the contribu- tions they made in facilitating the material and intellectual exchange between rural and urban areas, and the maintaining of social stability. The paper argues that the way they made their achievements is still of illuminating significance today.
