摘要
为了研究储存环的横向束流不稳定性,在合肥同步辐射光源上安装了八极磁铁系统.该磁铁是利用三维电磁场模拟软件Opera-3d建模优化设计的,八极磁场梯度最高可以达到1692 T.m-3.在机器研究过程中观察到束流集体不稳定性可以被八极磁场产生的朗道阻尼很好地抑制.通过这种手段,注入流强的阈值得到明显提高,储存流强已由原来的180 mA提高到300 mA以上.
In order to study the dynamical property of transverse beam instability, an octupole magnet system was developed in Hefei light source. The octupole magnet was designed using a computer code Opera-3d, which can realize a maximum field gradient of 1 692 T·m^-3. It was observed in machine study that, Landau damping caused by the octupole field can suppress the beam collective instabilities. In this way, the current threshold was improved and the stored beam current increased from 180 mA to about 300 mA.
