User interface of information retrieval system is the direct media of the communication between system and users. It plays a significant role in IR system designs. This paper has introduced several different kinds of user interface technique, analyzed the effects of user interface for user behavior and retrieval results. It has also put forward the foundational function implemented and principle complied with, and questions which should be paid attention to for different IR systems in user interface design.
