The extensive reading course has long been ignored in English teaching at colleges. However, the mission of extensive reading course is simply out of concern of other English courses. Pointing out the importance of the extensive reading course, the paper goes a step further to list some principles in selecting teaching material for best fulfilling the mission of extensive reading course.
