The paper briefly introduces the specific operation of EPON technology for building and transforming CATV bidirectional networks which are newly-buih or built： the newly-buih residential areas will adopt synchronous building of EPON and HFC networks; while in built residential areas, EPON network will be constructed in the same time with HFC network transformation. And the paper then gives the specific scheme and investigation budget. At last, the paper provides the comparison between EPON network and CMTS ＋ CM network and illustrates the superiority of adopting EPON technology.
