Cultural Criticism and Western Studies of the Literature of Travel

文学与历史的关系是当代西方文化批评关注的重点。地理探险是近代西方崛起的主要动力,对西方文化产生了深远的影响。游记文体跨文学与科学,其综合性为文化批评提供了有利的切入点。游记研究已成为当代西方文化批评的一个热点,取得了大量成果。游记研究揭示了殖民扩张在整个西方文化中的重要性,揭示了欧洲中心论、种族主义的影响、殖民话语的内在矛盾,以及西方科学与文学之间的联系。本文从文化批评与思想史两方面总结评价当代西方游记研究的主要成果。

The relationship between literature and history is a focus of modem Western cultural criticism. The geographical exploration was a motive force of the rise of the West and exerted a great influence on Western culture. The literature of travel is a combination of li, terature and science, and its comprehensive nature has provided a favoable perspective for cultural criticism. The studies of the literature of travel reveal the importance of colonial expansion in Western culture, and expose the influence of Euroeentrism and racism, the inner contradictions of colonial discourse and the relationship between science and literature. The present thesis is intended to evaluate modem Western studies of the literature of travel from the perspective of cultural criticism and intellectual history.
