The Cognitive Study of Metaphor

从认知角度来考察隐喻,不仅为隐喻的研究提供了一个崭新的视角,也较好地揭示了隐喻理解的本质。在隐喻研究史上从认知角度对隐喻作出阐释的理论主要有:Richards和Black的“互动理论”;Lakoff和Johnson的“概念隐喻理论”以及Sperber和Wilson的“关联理论”。在这三种认知理论的基础上,探讨它们对隐喻阐释的理据、方式及局限性,以便从认知的角度更好地理解隐喻。

To explore metaphor from the cognitive perspective is not only a new way to view metaphor, but also a better way to reveal the nature of metaphor. There are mainly three cognitive theories for metaphor in the history of metaphor research - Interaction Theory, Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Relevance Theory. On the basis of restating these theories, the paper is to explore their motivations, ways and limitations to interpret metaphor, so as to understand metaphor better from the cognitive perspective.
