On the Traditional Etiquette and Social Harmony

人际和谐、群体和谐与社会和谐是人类的终极向往与追求之一;礼仪自古就是实现这些和谐的重要途径。中国传统礼仪以伦理道德为核心,以划分民众的等级和社会地位、规范民众行为并对民众实施教化来实现社会的有序和谐。在新的历史条件下重新审视传统礼仪的价值和作用,对于构建和谐社会具有重要意义。

Interpersonal, communal and social harmonies are one of the ultimate aspirations and pursuits of human beings. Since an- cient times, etiquette has been an important approach to consummation of these harmonies. The traditional etiquette of China takes ethics and morality as its core, committing itself to establishing an orderly and harmonious society by setting up a hierarchy of social status, normalizing people＇s behavior and preaching moral doctrines among people. In the new historical context of building a harmonious society, it is of great significance to re-examine the value and role of our traditional etiquette.
