The paper outlines the common harmful associated elements in iron ore and their effect on the metallurgy, environment and human health. The spot check on the contents of twelve harmful elements in the imported iron ores at Ningbo Port is described and the results thereof are analyzed. It is pointed out that there exists a heavy metal pollution of different degrees in some imported iron ores, which is a risk that should be paid great attention to.
