From Area Studies to Cultural Studies:The Paradigmatic Changes in Humanities and Social Sciences

本文从美国学术界区域研究和文化研究的发展趋势入手,探讨区域研究与冷战及美国政府的关系、区域研究的两种学术范式、区域研究与文化研究的政治分歧、西方的文化研究与中国研究的走向等问题。在此基础上,作者对中国文化研究的理论创新和破除西方至上的新西方主义神话等提出了自己的见解。

This paper,focusing on the trends of development in American area studies and cultural studies,discusses the relationship of area studies with cold war and US government,the two academic paradigms in area studies,the political difference between area studies and cultural studies,and the development of western cultural studies and Chinese studies,based on which,it tries to put forward some ideas on theoretical creation and exorcization of the myth of the new and superior Westernism in Chinese cultural studies.
