The Ethical Reflections on the Usage of Respirators among End-stage Patients with Chronic Respiratory Failure

慢性呼吸衰竭严重发作阶段,由于其心肺功能的严重损伤、疗效不明显及病情的反复发作,使患者难以脱离呼吸机,或脱离呼吸机后短时间再次加重,患者极度痛苦,家属难以承受经济和护理压力,而医疗上又没有良好的较为持久地解决办法,使几方均处于痛苦的抉择中,难以摆脱困境,合理的协调几方立场做出较为多方接受而合法化的抉择十分重要,但在无安乐死立法前提下是较为困难的,常采用放弃治疗来解决,值得进一步探讨寻找更好解决办法。

In the end stage or stage of severe exacerbations, respirators are widely used among patients with chronic respiratory failure. But there are also a lot of accompanying problems such as economic burdens to the patient side, and the nursing care burdens to the hospital side, etc. Considering the current condition of a lack of legislation on euthanasia, it is always truly hard to find a feasible solution to the dilemmas, thus, patients in this case always end up with initiative quit from medical treatment. This article aims to probe into the concerned factors involved in this issue and try to come up with some countermeasures.
