Works on historiography are valued for their objectivity and impartiality. This is a common cognition of historian. But this research aim does not repel the expression of historiographer's feelings. In fact, if a work on historiography can be called tip-top one, it not only should return history to be the original condition as accurate as possible, evaluate historical persons and event as objective as possible, thus can make convincing conclusions, but should express historiographer's feelings and thoughts on historiography comprehensively and in depth by its narrations and arguments as well. Guo Wei-dong's a recent work, 〈a turn taking early relations between China and Britain and 〈Nanjing Treaty〉 as central research〉, do be a representative one expressing author's strong patriotic feelings and profound thoughts on historiography, and an important achievement in studies on modern Chinese history in recent years.
