On the Concept of Quality in Open Distance Education

远程开放教育要在教育大系统中取得立足之地,必须准确把握质量观,制订更具科学性、针对性和操作性的质量保证措施,这样才能融入多样化的高等教育系统之中。

Quality is the key to the development of open distance education. If the issue of quality is not addressed, the prospect for the development of open distance education will be poor. Therefore, quality is of great significance. The concept of quality must be firmly grasped to adopt more scientific, pertinent and applicable quality assurance measures. Only in doing so could open distance education find a foothold in the large system of education and become an indispensable part of diversified higher education system of the whole country. The paper probes into how to understand concept of quality in open distance education and how to strengthen quality assurance measures so as to promote the sound development of ODL.
