This paper presents a control method for a ladle residue cleaner in the Ma Steel Works. The Siemens S7 - 300PLC is applied to the control system. Without setting a separate CPU, the whole ladle residue cleaner system is included in the PROFIBUS network of workshop by setting up the ET200 station. This system comprised two control methods, namely field manual operation and remote control. The design thoughts and methods are also described.
