On Classifying Chinese Myths

所谓中国神话,应包括从古至今我国各民族的所有神话。以语言特点为标准进行分类,可分为文学神话与传说神话;以地域为标准进行分类,可分为北部神话、中部神话、南部神话;以民族为标准进行分类,可分为汉民族神话与少数民族神话;以历史阶段为标准进行分类,可分为上古神话、古代神话、新的神话。

Chinese myths include all myths created by all nationalities in China. Linguistically, they can be divided into literary myths and legendary ones; regionally, they are northern, central and southern myths; in terms of nationality, they are myths of the Han nationality and of other nationalities in China; and in terms of history, they can be divided into prehistorical, ancient and new myths.
