The analysis of Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire and Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof from the perspective of feminism shows that Blanche hopes to find sustenance in men and is finally victimized by male-dominated society while Maggie is hard and independent and becomes the controller of her own fate.Such differences in the two heroines reflect the change of Tennessee Williams's women outlook, which is closely connected with his early family background and the Women's Liberation Movement in the 1950s-1960s in America.
