摘要
世界著名杂志《经济学家》(The Economist)近几年来对于中国事物的翻译主要采取译、补结合的策略,兼用逐字直译,很少单独使用音译和意译。这种翻译策略的选取受制于杂志的观点及撰稿人的写作态度,并影响着外国读者对我国事物的认知,同时对于国内读者和学人也有所启示。
The paper deals with the strategies and techniques employed in the translation pertaining to China by The Economist,and the author puts forward that amongst all the strategies that occur in this journal,interpretive translation is the commonest with literalism less common,and transliteration and sense for sense translation the least.The paper argues that the choice of strategies is subject to the correspondents' attitude(which is in turn affected by the journal) towards China,and that the strategies have subtle influences on the international audience.Four suggestions are made at the end of the paper.
