With reference to the construction practice of erection of the main cable wire strands of Xihoumen Bridge, this paper discusses in considerable details the causes leading to the common problems and measures taken for resolving the problems like the hula hoop, torsion, wire loosing, tape breaking, wire swelling and wire strand surface abrading in the erection of main cable wire strands of suspension bridges.
