The definitions and principles of green chemistry and biotechnology were reviewed. It was conclu-ded that biotechnology were really a green technology according to its principles, methodologies of green chemistry and the characteristics of bioprocess.Biotechnology provides us with a directly effective approach to actualizing green chemistry.Some important interdisciplinary fields,such as chemical biology and biochemical engineering,which are established rapidly through cross-link and fusion, give us an effective approach to keeping sustainable development for society and economy.
