Employment Change in American Manufacturing Industry and Sino-American Trade Deficit

美国制造业就业比重的下降与贸易赤字的扩大并存。由于美国与中国贸易逆差的不断加大,进口中国商品被美国人看作是造成美国贸易赤字和制造业出现严重失业的主要原因,并以此作为美国政府向人民币汇率发难,甚至对中国商品抬高关税的依据。进口中国商品不是美国制造业出现严重失业的主要原因,美国限制从中国进口商品并不能改变美国制造业现状。

The decline of manufacturing employment percentage in U. S. A is associated with its trade deficit. As the adverse balance of trade between U. S. A and China is continually expanded, the import from China is regarded a major reason causing the giant trade deficit and manufacturing industrial employment decline in U. S.A. Moreover, American government brings pressure to bear on RMB exchange rate and restricts the import from China through lifting its tariff. This paper analyzed several basic reasons causing the employment percentage decline of American manufacturing industry and thought that the import from China is not a major reason resulting to the employment decline of American manufacturing industry and restricting the import from China can not change the present situation of American manufacturing industry.
