摘要
以孔子为代表的东方哲学思想和以亚里士多德为代表的西方哲学思想都反对“过”和“不及”,主张不偏不倚的中庸道德规范。他们的中庸思想对英、汉两种语言的影响可以从人们精心选用的词汇、家喻户晓的成语、俗语和喜闻乐道的日常表达等诸多方面得到反映。
The philosophical thoughts in the East and West, with Confucius and Aristotle being their representative holders respectively, both advocate the ethic of moderation in all things , neither going to excess nor falling short of the mean. The influence of their thoughts of moderation on the English and Chinese languages can be witnessed by the imprints of their word choice in expressions one＇ s mind, by some of the idioms and proverbs and by popular expressions in the two people＇ s daily communications.
