Modern distance education is a harmonious blend of modem IT and education technology and a new type education of learning society. Streaming media - based modem distance teaching system makes up of the deficiency of media information transmission in distance education. This paper introduces corresponding key points of distance education and some knowledge of streaming media. Meanwhile, it puts forward a framework of modem distance teaching system and displays the devdopment tendency of streaming media- based distance teaching.
