认知隐喻视角下动物词汇联想意义探源

Origins of the Associative Meanings of Animal-related Words from the Perspective of Cognitive Metaphor

词汇学习历来是语言学习的重点,词汇不仅有概念意义而且有联想意义。隐喻,作为人类的一种创造性思维能力,是人类认知世界、特别是认识抽象事物不可缺少的一种重要方式。本文从认知隐喻的角度探讨了英汉动物词汇联想意义的渊源,归纳总结出动物词汇联想意义主要是动物特性映射、文化背景映射的结果,反映出人类认知是在已有经验域基础上,通过隐喻思维联想范畴化,以新的视角认识事物的过程的理论。

Vocabulary learning is one of the most important aspects of the language learning and a word has associative meaning besides conceptual meaning. Metaphor, as a creative thinking ability, is an important way for human beings to recognize the world, especially abstract things. Based on the analysis of the origins of associative meanings of animal-related words from the perspective of cognitive metaphor, this paper concludes that these associative meanings are the result of mapping of animals＇ individual features and cultural backgrounds and that human cognition is a course of recognizing things by means of metaphor from a new persoective on the basis of their experiences.
