英语复合词不但有着显性的句法关系,还有着隐性的语义关系。文章通过对英语复合词的述谓结构和语义格的分析和描写,揭示出英语复合词复杂的隐性语义结构关系,提出英语复合词的结构模式,并且发现,英语复合词的造字过程实际上也是句子结构的词化和结构压缩的过程。

English compounds not only have transparent syntactic relations, but also have opaque semantic relations. This paper analyzes and describes prediction structures and semantic cases of English compounds, revealing the complicated semantic relations inside compounds and their word-building patterns. It is found that the forming process of English compounds is actually the process in which the syntactic structure is compressed and lexicalized.
