Novels' Status,Appraisal and Related Situation in Historical Biographies

自小说产生后,部分正史就对小说有收录和评价。文章把正史对小说的评价以及在正史中的地位、分布作为研究的重点。《四库全书总目》和《续修四库全书总目提要》可说是正史《艺文志》、《经籍志》的集大成者,对小说的收录、分类、评价均有重大贡献。

Since novels came into being, such scholars as Zixia, Zhuangzi, Xunzi and Huantan in various schools have all made their comments on them. The appraisal of novels in historical biographies of the successive dynasties has, to a certain degree, inherited fi＇om the above mentioned comments, especially those of the Confucianism. Thia- paper focuses on the appraisal of novels, their status, their distribution and their dispersion in historical biographies. Some well-known historical biographies have made great contributions to the recording of novels, their classification and their appraisal.
