Ralph Waldo Emerson believes that the world is symbolic. Nature incarnates human spirit, is itself a system of symbols, and cherishes rich symbolic meanings. Human beings are able to discover rational radiance in nature. Emerson argues that men can discard conventions and experience, seek for a supernatural mind of freedom, and find truth through intuition. A poet, being insightful and resourceful, is the only person who knows the universe, portrays the world, and reveals the truth.
