Instructional design should pay more attention to the requirement of effective teaching, which asks the effectiveness of instructional activity designed objectively. Discussion, as an often used activity form in instructional process, can act an important function in instruction. The paper expatiates on the function and the significance of discussion, and analyzes the structure of effective instructional discussion and the function of each factor, and also puts forward the designing method of effective discussion, which means to cause more research on effective teaching .
