On Politeness Difference between English and Chinese Cultures and Tactics of Politeness Translation

通过总结中外学者对英汉礼貌现象的研究成果,比较了英汉礼貌现象和礼貌准则的异同之处。在此基础上,围绕英汉文化冲突较大的敬谦辞、亲属称谓语、日常礼貌用语、对称赞语的反应等几种礼貌差异,结合英汉、汉英翻译实例,探讨了实现礼貌对等翻译的不同翻译策略。

This paper discusses some of the tactics used to realize the politeness equivalence or English-Chinese translation. It analyses the similarities and differences of politeness phenomena and norms between English and Chinese cultures on the four aspects of polite expressions that often lead to drastic cultural conflicts （respectful or self- depreciatory expressions ,kinship titles, daily-used politeness vocabulary and people＇s response to praises）.
