胡裕树先生对中国修辞学研究的贡献主要体现在三个方面：一是理论建构,对修辞学的性质、对象、任务等所做的深入探讨,揭示了修辞学与相邻学科的关系,并为语体风格做了合理的学科定位；二是总结经验,推动当代修辞学的科学发展；三是重视方法,对辩证的方法、交叉的方法和动态的方法等都有科学分析。
