The high- voltage Ex motors used in oil refining or chemical plants are often bumt and these accidents have very serious influence on the security in the production and bring about economic loss. With a cause - effect tree graph, 9 main factors involved in this accident are worked out. By analysis one by one, the cause of the accident is confirmed, damage of the insulating layer of the leading wire. Against this cause, some measures are taken; furthermore, the result is verified.
