The appearance of financial problems in Japanese private universities in 1950s-1970s has the reasons of capital turnover of school themselves as well as deep social and political reasons. The shortage of finance result in the lack of infrastructure, deterioration of school-running condition and preference to developing humanities. The financial subsidy from government lead that private universities are more dependent on governmental subsidy, they tend to accept the lead of government in school-running, further lose their characteristics of “private”, and become a section of educational system dominant by government.
