Nobel Prize winner, South African writer, Nadine Gardiner' s novel My Son' s Story uncovers the evil of apartheid and black people' s trouble by telling a tragedy of a black family under the apartheid. Analyzing this novel with the help of postcolonial theory, we can find the self-consciousness of the characters in the story is decided by their cultural identity, and nationalism image, their color of skin. Furthermore, the inter-construction of the "other" image between the white and the black deepens the description of the postcolonial theory.
