20世纪初期美国著名的短篇小说家欧.亨利以作品往往出人意外的结局为他最大的特色。人们习惯性尊称之为欧.亨利手法。同样为世界著名短篇小说家的法国19世纪中后期作家莫泊桑,更是被后人誉为“短篇小说之王”。在研究和欣赏这类作家和这些短篇小说的同时,我们发现,莫泊桑的小说也带有欧.亨利手法,尤其以他的《项链》最为明显,特别是它与欧.亨利的《警察与赞美诗》有着惊人的相似。这究竟是一种巧合还是必然?两篇小说惊人的相似具体表现在那些方面?它们是完全相同还是略有不同?这些问题是本文将要具体探索和阐述的重点。
