In the narration of ＂The Vietnam Project＂, Coetzee place Dawn, the protagonist＇s broken, twisted consciousness of his ego and confused self analysis deeply into the cultural context during Vietnam war of America-the western new empire in 20th century-to reveal the shaping function of the empire＇s history narration and cultural context to the ideology of the masses, while at the same time explore the essence that the empire＇s history is maken. Among various kinds of cultural forms which product the ideology of the imperialism, Coetzee particularly criticizes the role of media in ＂The Vietnam Project＂.
