Chinese story Lady Bai Imprisoned Under Leifeng Tower, Japanese Story Lustful Snake and British story Lamia are eastern and western representatives of the legends about man and snake falling in love. The eastern and western developments of the image associations of snakes revealed in these stories are surprisingly similar yet the specific associations are somewhat different. In the three stories, the similarities and differences of snake women reflect the universalities of the developments of human history and culture, the historical contexts of the stories, and the differences in the eastern and western cultural backgrounds.
