Qin Mu was one of the most important prose writers in Chinese literary history. He gained valuable accomplishments because he transformed his style successfully. His status made it easier for him to make innovative changes to the genre. After this transformation, Qin Mu＇s prose displays three characteristics： feature foregrounding, lyricism and dialectic tone. These characteristics have something to do with literary fashion at that time. The transformation of Qin Mu＇s prose carries forward the cause of the older generation and breaks new ground in the his- tory of scholarly prose.
