To solve the problem of lacking local plant species for urban forestation, this study tries to explore possibilities of application of plant resources of the Fagaceae family in Yueyang City to reflect the local characteristics. Trees Fagaceae family have good timber properties, strong vigor and wide adaptability to different environmerits. The rich plant resources of Fagaceae family provide a good opportunity for more choices of tree species for urban forestation, which is useful to improve the ecological and economic benefits.
