"Perspective" Analysis of Tense Inconsistence in English Discourse

传统语法将时态定义为“用以表示各种时间和动作方面的动词形式”,这一定义局限于词形的变化研究,对于时间错综复杂的语篇现象则无法给出合理解释。英语时态的使用不仅仅是一种句法规则,更多情况下选用哪一种时态取决于语篇的大环境,服务于语篇的交际目的。本文将从说话者的“视角”选择出发,主要对英语语篇中的时态不一致现象进行分析,试图对其做出科学合理的解释。

In traditional grammar, tense is defined as a verbal form used for expressing time and actions, which is limited to the research of words＇ variety, and could not give any reasonable explanations to those complex discourses. Tense is not only a syntax rule, mostly, how to use it is decided by the whole context of discourse, and serves for communicational aims. This paper will start from the choice of speakers＇ perspectives, concentrating on the analysis of tense inconsistence in English discourse, and try to give a scientific and reasonable explanation to this special phenomenon.
