The Constructive Significance of Mao Zedong's Peasant Education Thoughts in Cultivating New Farmers in China

建设社会主义新农村的基础和前提是培养新型农民,毛泽东农民教育思想对于培养当代新型农民具有重要的指导意义。要培养新型农民,必须:第一,高度重视农民教育;第二,加强农民的政治思想教育;第三,注重提高农民的文化知识和科技水平;第四,选择适合农民特点的教育方法。此外,在教育农民的同时满足农民物质等方面的利益等等。

The basis and premise constructing new socialist rural area is to cultivate new farmers and Mao Zedong＇s peasants education thought is of constructive significance in this respect. To develop new farmers, we must do the following things. Firstly, great importance must be attached to the education of the farmers. Secondly, the moral and political education of the farmers must be strengthened. Thirdly, efforts must be made to improve their cultural and technological knowledge. Fourthly, care should be taken to find appropriate methods in accordance with the characteristics of the farmers. At the same time, we must satisfy material interests of farmers while rendering them education.
