The composition, functions and the working principle of the developed monitoring and diagnosis system of the reciprocating engine are introduced. The system can measure the real-time performance parameters online and the instantaneous angular speed of the reciprocating engine, and diagnose the faults by combining the fault tree analysis with the expert system method. The system was verified to be able to diagnose and removal the troubles in time accurately.
