Wei-lim Yip is a famous overseas Chinese simultaneously as poet, professor and interpreter. With special cultural status, Yip made creative contributions in the Sino-western poetics theory and communicating practical works. He is the first man to introduce the ＂model＂ theory in the comparative poetics, he firstly builds dual antithesis in comparative poetics, then dispels it, so he develops a new study method in poetics. With splendid Sino-westem culture knowledge and dual language advantages, Yip creatively uses the language and poems as the base to study the inclining similarity when the Chinese classic poems and American modem poems express their images, to find the common aesthetical points, his practical results provide new road and method to the Sino-westem communicating comparative poetics. As a patriot, Yip contributes to the setting up of comparative literature discipline in China.
