论顾炎武的风俗观

Gu Yanwu's View on Customs

风俗是凝结于生活中的道德,在道德建设中发挥着重要的作用。顾炎武对风俗相当重视,他认为风俗乃“天下之大事”,是社会治乱的根本原因;但风俗有良俗与恶俗之分,因此必须采取措施整治风俗,促使社会风俗向好的方面转化;而在这一过程中,统治阶层应当发挥主要的作用。

Customs, the morality cemented with life experiences, plays a very important role in the moral construction. Gu Yanwu sets a high store in customs and deems that customs is a major event in the world, and it is the essential reason to determine whether the society is in order or in disorder; but customs is distinguished into good and evil. In the light of Gu Yanwu we must take measures to rectify the customs, so to bring the social customs to the good; while in this process, the rulers should play the leading role.
