On the Historical Condition for the Appearance of English Enlightenment

英国启蒙运动作为欧洲启蒙运动的先声具有其相应的历史必然性。除去资本主义经济发展兴起的基本历史条件外,英国分层而富于流动性的社会结构、独特的政治文化传统、科学革命和轰轰烈烈的宗教改革运动都起了各自应有的历史作用。

It is inevitable that Enlightenment in England became the precursor of European Enlightenment. Besides the great development of capitalist economy, the fundamental motivation of the Enlightenment, other factors also have had their historical contributions respectively. For example, the English social structure, which was layered and flowing, played an important role; the unique political and cultural traditions promoted the birth of English Enlightenment, scientific revolution was its catalyst; and Reformation established ideology basis for English Enlightenment.
