Debilitating diseases such as osteo-and rheumatoid arthritis, trauma and bone cancer can be treatedby using prostheses. The wear resistance of materials for joint replacement can affect the service-quality and ser-vice-life of prostheses. Materials for joint replacement and friction and wear were brieny reviewed in this paper.
