This paper states the necessity for port enterprises to realize the EDI automation, introduces briefly the realization of EDI automation for reports in diffirent status, such as declaring in the customs, reporting as containers passing the gate, reporting for handling of the container ship etc,. It points out that the perfect hardware and precise program control are needed to realize the EDI automation.
