After committing Nanjing Massacre, the authority of Japanese Army practiced two tactics to British and American nationals in Nanjing: on one hand, treating the nationals in a polite way to make use of them; on the other hand, restricting their activities and taking strong measures against them implicitly. Therefore, British and American nationals fought back under such harsh circumstance. This matter of the War of resistance against Japan, which had been neglected in a long time, must be paid more attention to by the historian.
