Analysis of Pragmatic Differentiation on Politeness Principal in Cross-cultural Communication Between Chinese and English

礼貌是不同文化背景的人都必须遵守和维护的准则,但不同文化背景的社会具有不同的礼貌准则,这种文化差异性往往构成跨文化交际的障碍。通过对比分析英语和汉语礼貌准则的差异性,分析英汉语礼貌文化交际语用失误的成因及避免对策。

Politeness is the principle for different people with different cultural background. However, different societies have different politeness principles, which always become the barrier in the cross--cultural communication. By discussing the similarities and differences of politeness principles both in Chinese and English cultures, the paper aims at analyzing the causes of pragmatic failure and points out the strategic solutions.
