In recent years,some western linguists have begun to question a positive tendency in linguistics,arguing that language is not a transparent medium for communication, nor is it a mere reflex of society, but it intervenes in social processes, and that linguists must reconsider the social functions of language and the tasks of linguistics and adopt a critical approach to the analysis of public and other non- literary discourses.
