History： The Finnish Social Democratic Party （SDP） was founded in 1899, first under the name of ＂Finnish Labor Party＂ . The present name was adopted at 1903 Party Congress. During the first two decades in the 20th century, the party formed two short-lived governments. Since 1937 SDP has participated in almost every government except for the period 1957-66.
